Founded in 1913 the “Heimatmuseum Prien“ is housed in the “Beim Mayrpaul“ farmstead that was built in 1837. The museum showcases a notable collection of artefacts relating to the history, art history and folklore of the western Chiemgau. Artefacts of rural living as well as an exhibition of the local Chiemgau folklore costume through the ages including the famous Prien hat are all well worth seeing. Opened in 2012 the historic art gallery provides an excellent insight into two centuries of Chiemsee artists from 1800 to the present day.
